Hello again. It's Saturday and I'm getting ready to run my third half marathon tomorrow. Brian and I are staying at our friend Ralph's family home in La Quinta - it's a beautiful place. We've been training for about 3 months for this race and I hope to finish in 2 hours. We'll see what happens...in the end the goal is to finish!
The boys are out golfing, but I decided to stay in and relax with some of my friends. Laying out by the pool, catching up on some reading...not a bad way to spend the afternoon.
I have to do some major carb loading today for tomorrow's race. Since this is the first race where I won't be having gluten, I found some delicious rice pasta that I'll be enjoying with my favorite roasted garlic pasta sauce. I'm going to take it easy on the protein as I need plenty of carbs to burn during my run. Protein I will have tomorrow - either chicken or egg whites. It's nice to know when you've burned off more than 1,000 calories within a two hour period and can eat whatever gluten free goodies you want after. Along with the protein, I may do rice ice cream and wine and gluten free chocolate chip cookies and tortillas and... I mean why not, right!?
I will soon be getting to some more information on gluten free options, links, readings, and a slew of other helpful resources I've come across. For now, wish me luck on the race!

Gluten free ice cream? I'm not sure I can make that leap.
